One Of The Tall Ships Heading Up The Chesapeake Bay Got A Good Look At This Week Wednesday's Spring Typhoon Races.

Wednesday evening races were a little more exciting than usual.  The winds were higher than normal and they brought in this 179’ three-masted barque “Picton Castle” from Nova Scotia on her year-long voyage of the Atlantic.  She was sailing up the Chesapeake Bay with the tall ships from Norfolk after four days of activities as part of OpSail 2012.  OpSail , a large-scale, international event commemorated the 200th anniversary of the war of 1812.  There was a large number of ships and boats from around the world.  Picton Castle was one of the smaller of the Class "A" tall ships in the lineup, and one of the handful of non-military vessels.

We've Just Surpassed Registrations For 2011!

Registrations are up over last year!  And there's still time for others to join in the racing action.  We'll be accepting entries up until 8AM prior to the Skipper's Meeting on June 23.  After that, your only options will be as cheerleader or crew for the other racers on the course.  Check the tab marked Forms / Entrants to see who's lined up for the start now.
